How far will you go when you have nothing left to lose?
When she lost her soul mate, Caleb, Eve felt like her world had ended. Trapped in the palace, forced to play the part of the happy, patriotic princess of The New America—and the blushing bride of her father's top adviser—Eve's whole life is a lie. The only thing that keeps her going is Caleb's memory, and the revolution he started.
Now, Eve is taking over where Caleb left off. With the help of Moss, an undercover subversive in the King's court, she plots to take down The New America, beginning with the capital, the City of Sand. Will Eve be able to bring about a new, free world when she's called upon to perform the ultimate act of rebellion—killing her father?
In Rise, Eve must choose who to leave behind, who to save, and who to fight as Anna Carey's epic tale of romance and sacrifice in the chilling dystopia of The New America comes to a stunning conclusion.
My Review: So far so good. This book starts off with this large lovely christmasy party. Everyone is having a good time, then Eve goes and has a chat with Moss. They discuss their plan on how to make things better. Getting rid of the King, having other people come into the walls and plan an attack. So that in the end, things can become better and a lot of changes will be made. Like the whole school girls and having them have kids, will be gone.
Eve and Moss will work together until the time comes, which Eve will have to go and hide to be safe. A month maybe 3 is all it would take, then she can appear again. Before this can even happen the King has to fall. So Moss has a way to apply poison to his meds. Giving Eve a bag of powder, she is to find a way to put it in the pills.
In other news, Eve gets randomly sick. She is told that she is pregnant. Uhoh....the king is thrilled and wants to tell Charles the news. Only problem is this baby doesn't belong to Charles. It was Caleb's baby. Now Eve must be careful, if the king finds out, he may just get rid of her. When meeting Charles at the site, he acts equally happy and doesn't rat Eve out.
During a lunch out with Clara, they get some news of the war starting. They escape the restaurant and make their way home. Eve must quickly decide what to do, since the war is creeping in faster. So eve makes her way to her room to pack, when trying to leave a guard grabs her and makes her go to the kings room. When there the luetient asks her if she was the one who put poison in his meds. Moss was there along with Charles, and without much say the guards go to take her. So Eve uses her knife to fight back and manages to get herself and Moss out. She turns back to find Charles fighting another guard do they can quickly get away. So Charles is on her side trying to help. Once outside the walls, Clara comes up to her and wants to leave with her. So they go and make their way out to the South tunnel, but before they go Eve stops at the girls. Eve gets as many of them to go with her and they all manage to get in the tunnel and out just as the guards were heading their way.
Once on the journey to safety, Eve and the girls run into some old friends. Pip and Ruby, and the two young boys from before. After some talking they finally agree to go with Eve and the girls to safety. Though on the way something tragic happens. One girl is badly injured, when another dies. Soon after they arrive to safety at Califia and they all settle in. Once settled Eve decided to go out and get some air. One of the girls sees her and they go to chat. After a bit of talking Eve decided she has to go back to the palace to kill the king for good this time. So
after saying her goodbyes Eve makes her way back to the Palace...where things will finally change.
This last book has more action then them all!!!! It was a very very very awesome ending to another awesome series. Sadly a lot of my favorite series are ending this year ): Though I look forward to more books from Anna Carey.
