Pride & Prejudice meets Crave when Austen-loving Lorena Navarro attends a new boarding school expecting to find her own Mr. Darcy, but accidentally finds the world’s last vampire instead!

Pride comes before the fall.

When a boarding school opens in a once-condemned Victorian manor buried in the woods of New Hampshire, Austen-loving Lorena Navarro enrolls in hopes of finding her own Mr. Darcy. Instead, she stumbles across a coffin and accidentally awakens the world’s last vampire.
After hibernating for nearly three centuries, William Pride is desperate to find his family—and clueless about the modern world. Relying on Lorena for more than just blood, he enrolls at the school to catch up on all he’s missed.
Soon, William uncovers a chilling truth: He is the last hope for his kind’s return to power. Torn between protecting the humans around him and fulfilling his fate, William must make a choice that could change everything. Will he sacrifice his species for love . . . or will he embrace his dark destiny at last?

My Review: Uh.....

This book had too many issues for me and got quite annoying and boring at times I both wanted to throw the book in annoyance and got headaches from it.

It reads a lot more like this book is more middle school kids. Even the characters come off and act like they are middle school at times instead of high school.

The constant mention of menstrual cycles got old really fast. We get it, don't need to mention it every other paragraph. The many attempts of bringing up other classics and intertwining them wasn't a good idea. Maybe once or twice but there were too many lines and suggestions that it actually took away from the book.

William at first, was a total prick. They way he acted and treated Lorena was horrible. She would try her hand to stay around longer and keep him at bay and then gets all high and mighty when she thinks she finally defeated him for good. Until he enrolls into the school and really shakes things up even more.

It's not long until she goes swooning and pinning for the very same guy who was really quick to drain her of her blood and end her. But William also changes and falls for her as well. It gives off a lot of Twilight vibes in the end.

For me, it wasn't a hit. The ending was actually the best part of the whole book and I had to basically skip a lot of parts because it just was either too boring or so bad I couldn't tolerate it. I also wouldn't classify this as a dark academia like it says. It's just way too juvenile and there isn't anything "dark" about this.

The ending is left open where another book could come if the author wanted to make another. I can't say I'll be jumping to read it, not unless the book gets a good overhaul.

If you like classics, Twilight and juvenile characters then this would be more for you.
