Laurel just wanted to survive college, keep her father fed, and fly
under the radar.
Delivering pizzas was supposed to be the safe kind of side hustle, until the
night she witnesses a murder at Ashford House, the most elite and secretive
fraternity on campus.
Now she’s a prisoner of The Order, a blood-bound society that
controls everything from politics to police. They rule with ritual, obedience,
and violence, and they’ve decided Laurel doesn’t get to leave.
At the center of it all is Carrson Ashford, heir to the powerful Ashford
legacy.
Cold. Commanding. Infuriatingly magnetic.
Under the rules of The Order, he “bonds” her, marking Laurel as his.
Body. Mind. Soul.
But Laurel isn’t here to be claimed. Not without a fight.
To save her father and her future, Laurel must navigate a twisted realm of
initiation rites, brutal secrets, and a bond that may destroy them both.
In this world, there’s one rule: obey or die.
But love doesn’t follow rules. And neither does Laurel.
My Review: Erm...So I may have a Lexi Davis addiction at this
point. Her books are too addictive that you can't help devouring these books overnight.
I'm not so patiently waiting for the next book and thinking no other
book is going to get me out of this hang over right now.
Now, let’s dive into this book.
Laurel is lovely. She's making school and life work by delivering pizza.
All seemingly normal until said delivery goes wrong....so very wrong.
Carrson is one of those characters you keep at a distance until you know
if you'll love or hate him. His first appearance makes him appear like this big
deadly brute. He doesn’t say very much at first. He basically laid claim to
Laurel and forces her to stay the night. But when he has this dream, you get a
glimpse of how he was initiated into this world and you start to think that
just maybe he isn't all that bad.
Carrson approaches Laurel with a deal. Accept his bond to her and he'll
take care of school and get her farther some help. On one hand, Laurel is given
a chance to make her dream a reality. On the other hand, this isn’t how she
expected it to happen nor does the idea of this bond and all the rules that
come it a good idea.
But if they both want to survive, they’ll have to play a part and make
it believable.
The further I got into the book, the more I was hooked. Laurel and
Carrson are prefect together.
The tension, romance, secret society, spice and more! Everything you're
looking for can be found in the book. This isn’t one to miss.
Do make sure you read the trope and warnings beforehand. There are
moments that can be considered too much for those who have sensitivity to the
triggers listed, so just keep that in mind.
