Kiera Cass brings another sparkling romance
to a stunning conclusion in this sequel to the instant #1 New York
Times bestseller The Betrothed.
Can you follow your heart when it’s already
broken?
After fleeing Coroa and leaving the memory of
her beloved Silas behind, Hollis is unsteadily adjusting to life in Isolte. The
Eastoffe family’s affection is a balm on her weary spirit, though Etan, a surly
cousin with a deep distaste for Coroans, threatens to upset the uneasy peace
she’s found.
While tensions at home ratchet up, disquiet in
the kingdom of Isolte is reaching a fever pitch. The Eastoffes may have the
power to unseat a tyrannical king—but only with Hollis’s help.
Can a girl who’s lost it all put the fate of her
adopted homeland over the secret longings of her heart?
My Review: Dang, Kiera really pulled out all the stops in this book!
Hollis is in Coroa now with her new family. But of course her cousin Etan is there and is not giving her an easy time at all. He also isn't thrilled about having her included in the family plan... the family has been building a case against the King. Technically the family has a right to the throne. So they have been gathering proof of the King's wrong doings and building up an army of their own to approach the King if it comes to that.
Despite Etan not being a fan of Hollis, she is actually helpful and having her connection with the Queen, it can even be an advantage. Once they are in the castle, have the Queen on their side and King's son dies, things progress FAST.
When it came time for a new King to be on the throne, it surprisingly was easier than I thought it would. When everything is said and done, Hollis and Etan go back to her home and face another King.
King Jameson is acting all high and mighty when they enter. He's not really shocked at Etan being the new King, he's more focused on Hollis an her staying as Queen. King Jameson shows Hollis the contract that shows she is already married to him. Not only are both Hollis and Etan in shock, but the way Jameson throws Hollis previous bestie aside like trash, that was cruel and low.
Now when Jameson pulls out his sword and makes his way toward them...well let's just say I laughed a bit at this part. Cause it was just stupid and now Hollis is the Queen.
