In
the land of gods and monsters, she was a toy. A plaything. A pet.
His pet.
Taken, stolen, beaten, used.
Pet remembers nothing before his touch, and afterward she craves nothing more.
Sinful and merciless, Ares is her god now. He alone says when to beg, when to
come, and when to kneel, but he never said anything about leaving.
Warning: In the Land of Gods and Monsters is a dark romance novel. It contains
strong sexual themes, dubious consent, graphic violence, and may contain
triggers for some readers.
My Review: At first I was like WHAT THE HECK DID I JUST READ?! Yup, I read this book in a day and it took me a bit to decide if I liked this book or just had to see where this goes.
Pet had a life before this place. A fiancé, who in fact sounds like the most boning person ever and a fun Russian best friend. She was even a top prima ballerina and was going to star as the Sawn tonight and her only night as the Swan.
Once she wakes up, she doesn't remember anything. Her name, where she's from, her life before waking up in this new hell and now all she will be known as is "Pet".
Ares is a monster, even he says so himself. He picked her originally for another, but then she became more than just another slave to break and train. Ares tries really hard to break her but she has a strong will. It takes beating, starving and more to get her to start breaking and worse...she is falling in love with Ares.
Ares, her kidnapper and master can easily show kindness and care during those bath times but he can just as quickly become that monster and force her to do anything he wants. Like it or not.
That ending though was a shocker! What the heck was all of that just to end it the way that it did?!
