Paige Lyman, an accomplished psychiatrist, feels dislocated when her husband suddenly dies in a helicopter crash and she discovers the startling truth about who he really was. The revelation destroys all her certainties and transforms her from psychiatrist to patient. Paige tells us about her life, in long flashbacks, starting with her atypical childhood in East Africa with Bill, the young Irish boy who stole her heart, and then abandoned her for priesthood. As a heartbroken teenager, Paige is seized by an implacable passion. She seeks her proverbial pound of flesh in the beds of various priests in an orchestrated attempt to get back at priesthood for robbing her of the only man she ever loved.

Everything changes when she meets Stern W., a medical researcher, who sweeps into her life like a hurricane and marries her. Yet now, as ugly skeletons, long forgotten in the closet, begin to rear their heads, Paige is seared by a damning awareness that she had indeed had what she yearned for all her life without realizing it ... but it is too late to come to terms with the heart-wrenching things she did for a reason that no longer existed.

My Review: Paige has everything she could want. A good job and husband. Everything is just great, right until her husband dies. She not only is hurt by news of his death, but the secrets that was kept about him. Everything she ever knew was changed and it bothered her to the point where she became a patient herself. She tells you about her life and you will feel for her as she guides you through her story.

When Stern walks in, you'll notice thing are about to change.  Things move fast. The couple are quick to dive into marriage. Yeah it seems all happy and Pagie may seem like she finally got what she want. But does she know about all the skeletons hiding in the closet and how it can impact everything? Will it be no big deal? Can things just slow down and we'll get to know how married life is for them. Or are things going to get a little crazy before the story settles down and we can just enjoy it?

There was so much detail, the pace was awesome and just went quicker at the best parts. You had no choice but to stay glued to those pages. Augustine did an amazing job on this book and I can't wait to see what else she comes up with.
