Wilhelmina has a hundred identities.
She is a princess. When the Indigo Kingdom conquered her homeland, Wilhelmina and other orphaned children of nobility were taken to Skyvale, the Indigo Kingdom’s capital. Ten years later, they are the Ospreys, experts at stealth and theft. With them, Wilhelmina means to take back her throne.
She is a spy. Wil and her best friend, Melanie, infiltrate Skyvale Palace to study their foes. They assume the identities of nobles from a wraith-fallen kingdom, but enemies fill the palace, and Melanie’s behavior grows suspicious. With Osprey missions becoming increasingly dangerous and their leader more unstable, Wil can’t trust anyone.
She is a threat. Wraith is the toxic by-product of magic, and for a century using magic has been forbidden. Still the wraith pours across the continent, reshaping the land and animals into fresh horrors. Soon it will reach the Indigo Kingdom. Wilhelmina’s magic might be the key to stopping the wraith, but if the vigilante Black Knife discovers Wil’s magic, she will vanish like all the others.
Jodi Meadows introduces a vivid new fantasy full of intrigue, romance, dangerous magic, and one girl’s battle to reclaim her place in the world.
My Review: I love love loved this book! Jodi is an amazing writer and I can't wait to dive into the next book!
Will is one of the best female characters I've read. Shes smart, strong, can fight, look poor, and then clean right up and look proper. Oh and she just happens to be a princess and future queen. No biggie or anything.
Right now she is part of a group. Filled with other orphans and together they break a few rules. Only because they have to. Otherwise they would just starve to death or possibly worse. They don't plan to hurt anyone, its not what they are about. Though they will do what they have to in order to survive, so some fighting is needed.
Then a plan comes into place. Will and Mel will go into the palace and get all the info they can. Anything they can get to help bring will's kingdom back. It started off easy enough, but just as they get all the info they need, things take a turn.
The papers for the girls are called into question. The king has been killed. Will gets arrested. The prince just happens to be they mysterious vigilante. Oh and I hate Patrick. Yo'll read about him and then probably hate him too. The big thing for me was when he told Will that he was going to be her king. OH HELL NO! You do not ever just claim that. And you don't ever tell your future queen outright like that, nope. She will choose and well there are other things I can say. But I'll stop there before I really give huge spoilers.
