Only fifty years left before vampires rule the world.

When Dallas police detective Cami Davis joined the city's vampire unit, she planned to use the job as a stepping-stone to a better position in the department.

But she didn't know then what she knows now: there's a silent war raging between humans and vampires, and the vampires are winning.

So with the help of a disaffected vampire and an ex-cop addict, Cami is going undercover, determined to solve a series of recent murders, discover a way to overthrow the local Sanguinary government, and, in the process, help win the war for the human race.

But can she maintain her own humanity in the process? Or will Cami find herself, along with the rest of the world, pulled under a darkness she cannot oppose?

My Review: I'm happy to be bringing another Margo book! I really loved her take on this book and vampires. Margo has thrown in some new things which I loved. Vampire books have been going on forever and they all seem a like after a while, but Margo did bring something new to the table that I just loved. Besides that, the book was at a good pace and never lost my interest. I read this fairly quick just because I didn't want to put it down, but who needs sleep anyway...

So let me get into the story now....Cami is a great character and joined the vampire unit at just the right time. When a war might just break out with humans and vampires, its usually the best time to join. Though she doesn't know that when she joined the force. Oh and the vamps are winning, she goes under cover, gets help from a vampire and an ex-cop. Plus she is supposed to hunt down and kill these vampires, so um getting help from one may not go well with everyone.  If Cami only knew what she was in for then..

So she goes undercover to deal with everything going on and it never hurts to have a cute contact. Oh and let me tell you, these vampires are not kind. These are worse than the ones you read in twilight, more evil than one you would read from in Morganville. So just be warned that are not nice.

The murders that happened were cool, well they were all set up in a certain way and had some kind of light coming from their wounds. Otherwise murder is not cool, but I did love this twist. It made you want to know why this all happened and just stay glued to the pages.

So her vamp buddy is Reese who is a sexy vamp. He really just wants to help her, but trust doesn't just come easy. Oh and they ended up liking each other a bit more than planned. I did find Reese to be a good character and I like him. I do trust him right now, but I want to see where it goes. I want these two to develop more and become some kick-ass team.

I really loved this book and was mad at the ending. Like um why don't I have the next book already? Ugh I really love this book and this take on vampires, and it was just a nice change in vampire books for me.

I can't wait to read more!
