The Selection changed the lives of thirty-five girls forever. And now, the time has come for one winner to be chosen.
America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown—or to Prince Maxon's heart. But as the competition approaches its end and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realizes just how much she stands to lose—and how hard she'll have to fight for the future she wants.
From the very first page of The Selection, this #1 New York Times bestselling series has captured readers' hearts and swept them away on a captivating journey... Now, in The One, Kiera Cass delivers a satisfying and unforgettable conclusion that will keep readers sighing over this electrifying fairy-tale long after the final page is turned.
My Review: This book is PERFECTION! I still can't believe its all over and I won't be reading anymore of America's story. I read this book in one sitting and I had it griped tightly until the very last page.
The time has come for the selection to come to a close. Is America going to have her Maxon or will Aspen take her away? Maxon and America have had their share of mistakes and arguments and that will never change between them. Its something that connects them together and its weird when they get along for too long.
I really loved about the rebels and knowing there are good ones out there. The north rebels have come into the palace to talk with America and Maxon. They want them two because they can see that Maxon is different and wants things to be different and that America can relate to the people and has also tried to change things. Because America is being herself and when she speaks her mind she creates things in the world. The King obviously can't stand her and frankly the King was an ass through the whole book and I just couldn't stand him at all. But because she is herself, the people are loving America and want her to be the next princess. They can she that relates to them and is truly trying to make things better for everyone.
Maxon and the Queen are the only ones who care and on are America's side. I loved when the Queen mentioned to America that shouldn't be surprised if America started calling her mom soon. I really loved the Queen through everything, she is kind and loveable and nothing like the King.
While time passes by the girls have their moments. They fight and soon realize they should be happy no matter what and they all become good friends and enjoy the time that they all have left together. I love when they all decide to just grab maid and mirrors and have makeovers in the womens room, one of the best scenes in the whole book.
Now for the best parts ever! America returns after a sad time with her family, and arrives to find that Maxon is about to reveal his choice. When returns to her room, he is there and it couldnt wait any longer. Maxon and America are going to be married and their love is so beautiful and strong. Everything is perfect, right until Aspen comes in at the worst second. After Maxon leaves, Aspen comes in and America tries to tell him that she loved Maxon, but then Maxon comes by and everything has been exposed. Maxon is beyond hurt and well has America leave and next thing you know Kriss is the one going to marry Maxon.
I'm so happy that everything worked out like it should! At the announcement, the southern rebels broke into the palace and started shooting. Maxon got shot and America ran to him and that is when he reveals the truth to her. That he has been miserable since he made her go. He told her that his heart is only for her and things should have gone differently. After everything is said and done and the palace is safe again, the world can start to change. America finds that Aspen and Lucy are so much in love and she couldnt be happier for them. She runs to find Maxon to find that he is now the King and he reveals some awesome plans he has had in the works and finally give her the ring.
The wedding itself was perfection and I couldnt be happier with how this book ended. I really wish there was another book that told their story after the wedding. This series was one of the best I have ever read, and The Selection was an impulse read and I'm so happy I read it.
