Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840), one of the greatest violinists who ever lived and rumored to have made a pact with the devil, has somehow transferred unique powers to another…

When violinists around the world mysteriously vanish, 16-year-old Emma Braun takes notice. But when her beloved violin teacher disappears… Emma takes charge. With Sherlock Holmes fanatic, not to mention gorgeous Corey Fletcher, Emma discovers a parallel world ruled by an ex-violinist turned evil sorceress who wants to rule the music world on her own terms.

But why are only men violinists captured and not women? What is the connection between Emma's family, the sorceress, and the infamous Niccolò Paganini?

Emma must unravel the mystery in order to save her teacher from the fatal destiny that awaits him. And undo the curse that torments her family—before evil wins and she becomes the next luthier's apprentice

My Review: Although this book was short, it was well written with so much detail that you just had to finish it in one sitting.

So what do you do when your teacher goes missing? Be a detective! Remember Sherlock Holmes and the way he does things? Well I'm just happy Emma doesn't act exactly like him, Sherlock is great, but he does have an ego... So Emma starts to dig around and see what comes up. Secrets are surfaced and Emma is starting to notice that things are going to turn in a way she never planned on.

There is magic involved and the reason people are missing......uh the soul is taken only from the best of the best. Well, now that is something and the whole curse thing was starting to make sense. So Emma is destined in all of this, but whats the best thing for her to do? Let things go and soon belong to this world? That would seem the easier thing, but then again Emma is strong willed and really loves the Sherlock, so Emma is going to figure out how to take care of the souls! Ah I loved Emma through this book, it seemed like I got to know her really well even from such a short story. I also loved Sherlock and having bit of him through the book was fun for me. Emma would make a pretty great female Sherlock!

Overall I really loved this book and can't wait to read more from Mayra!
