Fenella was
the first Scarborough girl to be cursed, hundreds of years ago, and she has
been trapped in the faerie realm ever since, forced to watch generations of
daughters try to break this same faerie curse that has enslaved them all. But
now Fenella’s descendant, Lucy, has accomplished the impossible and broken the
curse, so why is Fenella still trapped in Faerie?
In her desperation, Fenella makes a deal with the faerie queen: If she can
accomplish three acts of destruction, she will be free, at last, to die.
What she doesn't realize is that these acts must be aimed at her own family—and
if she fails, the consequences will be dire, for all of the Scarborough girls.
How can she possibly choose to hurt her own cherished family—not to mention the
new man whom she’s surprised to find herself falling in love with? But if she
doesn’t go through with the tasks, how will she manage to save her dear ones?
My Review: Probably the worst book I've read all year. This series didn’t need a sequel.
This book focused on Fenella, the original person that caused the whole family
of women to be cursed.
Her backstory wasn’t the best. It was very cut and dry, dull even.
When the curse is broken, all should be well except Fenella isn’t happy to
still be existing and wants her life to be over and it comes at a great cost.
She goes to the human world, meets her family and is overwhelmed by everything
but the whole time she is pretty annoying and rude and just so unlikable. At no
point did I like her.
Oh and when her plan goes to involve the dog??? Nope, that was it for me. She
is so cold and cruel deep down.
It was so bad that I had to skip to the end to see if it ever gets better and
it just caused more anger.
Fenella is a character that I have a lot of hate for, and it takes a lot for me
to really hate a character this much. The story overall, not the best and it
really shouldn’t have been made.
