A propulsive, electrifying and enraging retelling of the life of Greek goddess Hekate, child of war turned all-powerful goddess of witchcraft and necromancy, by internationally bestselling poet Nikita Gill.

Born into a world on fire, Godling Hekate has never known safety. After her parents are on the losing side of the war between the ruling Titans and new Olympian Gods, Hekate is taken by her mother Asteria to the Underworld, where Styx and Hades agree to raise her. Meanwhile, Asteria is pursued across the world by Zeus and Poseidon and, to escape their clutches, transforms herself into an island in a stormy sea.

Orphaned and alone, Hekate grows up amongst the horrors and beauties of the Underworld, desperate to find her divine purpose and a sense of belonging in the land of the dead.

When Hekate finally uncovers her powers and ascends to Goddess status, she realises that even the most powerful Olympians are terrified of her. But when immortal war breaks out again, threatening to destroy everything from Mount Olympus to the Underworld itself, the Goddess of witchcraft and necromancy is the only one who can bring the deadly conflict to an end. . .

My Review: I love Greek mythology and Hekate was always a favorite of mine. So this book was obviously an no brainer for me and I had to read it. Even the cover makes you want to grab this book.

I've read many retellings and let me tell you,  this was truly one of the best ones I have read. I was instantly drawn in and next thing I knew I had finished the book, it was that beautifully addictive.

I will say, don't go into this book thinking it's written in the traditional sense. The author is a poet and the entire book is written in that format. Normally,  I dislike an entire novel written that way, it just isnt my thing. However, its so beautifully done that I didnt care how this book was written, I just had to keep reading it.

From how Hekate came into such a horrid world where she had to be on the run as a child. Growing up in the underworld. To becoming such a powerful goddess and everything in between was chefs kiss.

You can tell the author put a lot of effort into this book with the amount of details about Hekate but still making it her own. It's truly one of the best retellings of Hekate that this book will certainly linger in my mind for a long time.

Do not pass up this book if you love greek mythology and retellings. This is not a let it sit on your TBR pile kind of book. This one is a must for Hekate fans.
