From internationally bestselling author JULIE JOHNSON... a bewitching new standalone romantic comedy set in magical Salem, Massachusetts!

GWENDOLYN GOODE LIVES A CHARMED LIFE.
As owner of an occult shop in downtown Salem, Massachusetts she’s accustomed to all things odd and otherworldly. But when a bloody animal sacrifice is left as a warning outside her place of business, the police seem to think Gwen might be the target of some truly evil-doers. Suddenly, her sunny existence is riddled with danger in the form of crazed pagans, rogue employees, and nefarious henchmen. And there’s only one man who can protect her until the storm passes...

GRAHAM GRAVES HAS NO TIME FOR WITCHY NONSENSE.
Not in his love life, and definitely not in his line of work. Despite the ever-present oddities of his hometown, the private investigator and acclaimed police consultant prides himself on staying objective in every case that comes across his desk. That all changes when Gwendolyn — a woman who gets under his skin like no other — finds herself in the crosshairs of dangerous criminals. Graham is determined to make her safe, even if her presence tests his steely resolve. But as their mutual dislike sizzles into unexpected attraction… he becomes even more determined to make her something else:
HIS.

BAD LUCK CHARM is a total standalone romance of 450+ pages, featuring cameos from a fortune-telling parrot, a modern day pirate, and a coven of well-meaning octogenarians. With characters that leap off the page and plenty of spooky twists and turns to keep you guessing, fans of Johnson's previous Boston Love Story series in particular will adore this blend of heat, humor, and suspense.

My Review: I like a good romcom. And when it happens to be in Salem (basically next door to me) its always extra fun to see someone's rake of it.

Gwen is having a hot mess moment. Like woke up late, dressed in a hurry out the door without coffee mess. Although, is it considered worse than a hot mess if someone is framing you of putting a knife hrough someones heart. Literally.

Let's backtrack a little... Gwen has a pretty normal life in Salem. She inherited her aunts home and store. Being back is just right for her. She couldnt sell and just go back to her life, it just wasnt right.

So here she is, another normal day at the shop. When a rude man comes in swearing, throwing threats and even trying to get at Gwen. All because his wife knew he was cheating and made that man stick into a limp noodle. Yup, and Gwen is somehow supposed to fix that.

Then step in Graham. Really tells the guy off and quickly takes care of that situation. Gwen is way more angry about this, mostly because its Graham. She is not a fan of him.

Graham is a PI and is there to help Gwen if she likes it or not. Not that he has a choice once they find out people are targeting Gwen. And when that body shows up, things really get moving.

These two bicker and jab at eachother but I loved it. Its the kind that you just know these two are meant to be and the bickering is just them fighting it off. But when they finally do reach that point, its utterly beautiful. Graham really cares, listens and knows Gwen. The love between them is just wonderful.

I love the author's choice of music for Gwens playlist. All Time Low for the win here.

Overall I really loved this book. Its fun, witchy, mysterious, and does a great job at caputuring a more modern day Salem scene.
