Wren Greenrock has always known that one day she would steal her sister's place in the palace. Trained from birth to return to the place of her parents' murder and usurp the only survivor, she will do anything to rise to power and protect the community of witches she loves. Or she would, if only a certain palace guard wasn't quite so distractingly attractive, and if her reckless magic didn't have a habit of causing trouble...
Princess Rose Valhart knows that with power comes
responsibility. Marriage into a brutal kingdom awaits, and she will not let a
small matter like waking up in the middle of the desert in the company of an
extremely impertinent (and handsome) kidnapper get in the way of her royal
duty. But life outside the palace walls is wilder and more beautiful than she
ever imagined, and the witches she has long feared might turn out to be the
family she never knew she was missing.
Two sisters separated at birth and raised into
entirely different worlds are about to get to know each other's lives a whole
lot better. But as coronation day looms closer and they each strive to claim
their birthright, the sinister Kingsbreath, Willem Rathborne, becomes
increasingly determined that neither will succeed. Who will ultimately rise to
power and wear the crown?
My Review: Twin sisters who never met and both want the crown. What could
possibly happen?
Rose is a princess and soon will be crowned Queen. Well, she think's so anyway. Rose hasn't really left the palace, and really only knows the things that she's been told. What she is about to find out, is that everything has been a horrible lie.
Rose goes from going to bed to waking up on a horse with some guy. Granted she freaks out and jumps off the horse. After back and forth she finds out Shen isn't going to hurt her and agrees to continue on with him. What she didn't expect to find out, she is something that she hates and then ends up on an Island of witches. Here she will learn more about who she truly is, her family and have everything she knows turned upside down.
Wren is a witch, has been all her life and lives on the island with her grandma and other witches. She has know her entire life who she is, that she has a twin sisters and truth about what happened to her parents and true cause of the war.
So it's time for a switch. While Wren's
bestfriend runs off with her sister, Wren will enchant herself to look like her
sister and take over the role of princess. How hard can that be? Well Wren
learns a lot more about the real reason for Rose's engagement, who is going to
take over the throne and more.
What Wren hadn't expected was Rose to show back up to the palace and well things are about to speed up. The ending of the book is what really hooked me.
Truths are revealed, lives are lost, kingdoms
changed forever, witches enter and so much more jam packed in the ending. So
much so, that it leaves you wanting for me once you've gotten to the last
page.
