Three-thousand years ago, humans were hunted by powerful races with wild magic until the treaty was formed. Now, for centuries, the elves have taken a young woman from Luella's village to be their Human Queen.
To be chosen is seen as a mark of death by the townsfolk. A mark nineteen-year-old Luella is grateful to have escaped as a girl. Instead, she's dedicated her life to studying herbology and becoming the town's only healer.
That is, until the Elf King unexpectedly arrives... for her.
Everything Luella had thought she'd known about her life, and herself, was a lie. Taken to a land filled with wild magic, Luella is forced to be the new queen to a cold yet blisteringly handsome Elf King. Once there, she learns about a dying world that only she can save.
The magical land of Midscape pulls on one corner of her heart, her home and people tug on another... but what will truly break her is a passion she never wanted.
A Deal with the Elf King is a complete, stand-alone novel, inspired by the tales of Hades and Persephone, as well as Beauty and the Beast, with a "happily ever after" ending. It's perfect for fantasy romance fans looking for just the right amount of steam and their next slow-burn and swoon-worthy couple.
Sad to say, it didn't live up to the hype for me.
The have been looking for the new human Queen, but they have been unable to find her for a year now.
Luella is a gifted healer and loves what she does. The whole town loves her, they even paid for her schooling. She has a good life, but that good life will easily turn upside down.
The guy she liked, isn't who she really thought he was. He knew what she really was and gave her a way to protect and hide her gifts. Luella never even knew that she had any powers until the night the Elf King came into town.
It was revealed that Luella was the next human Queen all along and now she must go with the Elf King. But once she is at the palace, things were just way too slow for me. I know it was meant to be a slow-burn, but this was painfully slow for me. After about a few chapters, I had to give up on the book. I couldn't deal with the slow pace and the book just wasn't pulling me in. I'll give the other books in the series a try, but right now, I am not finding it to be as hyped up as I've heard about.
