Double double, twins spell trouble…
Hunter and Mercy Goode are twin witches, direct
descendants of the founder of their town of Goodeville. As their ancestors have
done before them, it is now time for the twins to learn what it means to be
Gatekeepers–the protectors of the Gates to different underworlds, ancient
portals between their world and realms where mythology rules and nightmares
come to life.
When their mother becomes the first victim in a
string of murders, the devastated sisters vow to avenge her death. But it will
take more than magic to rein in the ancient mythological monsters who’ve
infected their peaceful town.
Now Hunter and Mercy must come together and
accept their destiny or risk being separated for good.
My
Review: UGH!!! I have not words, yet I do. I bought this book because it's by a
favorite author and I love a good witch book. But man what
happened?!
The prologue, I loved it. I wanted to read more and was hooked in just like I expected from these ladies. But then there was no more Sarah...
Now it's
about twin sisters, who are descendants of Sarah. Like okay, maybe it'll
somehow all entwine right? Um first off, I would have loved for each chapter to
be in the POV of one of the twins to make it easier to figure out who is
talking. Sometimes you just can't tell and well they weren't developed as well
as I'd hope.
It's
time for the twins to decide who they will follow, a god or goddess and what
kind of witch they will be. The ceremony I thought was okay, nothing out of the
ordinary until some creature came and their mother sacrificed herself for
them.
From
that point on, I just couldn't keep going, I had to force myself to read the
book all the way through. Which really pained me. I wanted to loved this book
so much, but somehow this isn't what I had expected from a pair of my favorite
authors. I am hoping the next book pulls me in and ends up being better.
