My Review: DNF.
I have always loved a book by Jodi, but with this book, I couldn't even finish it.
Mira is supposed to be this amazing person. She has always been told she is special and needs to hold up this perfect image. When in reality, this isn't the life she really wanted. She has anxiety and just wants to be around her dragons. To be normal and enjoy her life. But then a secret ruins everything she knows.
The story starts with Mira counting the steps and she descend down them to the pit. Which is the worst prison anyone could be sent to. While she makes her way down the steps, she is wondering what people are going to say about her absence. Probably make something up to keep the truth under wraps. Her once perfect and easy life is no more. Her dress will be ruined, she won't be able to bathe in luxury, have any meal she wants. Nothing is going to be the same now that she is behind the prison bars.
At this point, I wasn't sure how I felt about the book. I didn't know what this secret was. How it was so bad to send her down to the pit. How it could ruin the treaty. What the people are hiding. There was just way too many unanswered questions. By the time I got closer to the end I still wasn't sure how I felt about the book. It wasn't grabbing me like Jodi's other books. So I just didn't finish the book. I'm hoping the next one turns out better than this one.
