For Kayden, suffering in silence was the only way to survive. If he was lucky, he could keep his head down, do as he was told, and make it through the day. But one night it seemed like his luck-and his life-might finally end... until an angel named Callie appeared just in time to rescue him.

Callie has never believed in luck. Not since her twelfth birthday when everything was taken from her. After the worst was over, she locked up her feelings and vowed never to tell anyone what happened. Now, six years later, she continues to struggle with the painful secret that threatens to consume her.

When fate lands Kayden and Callie at the same college, Kayden is determined to get to know the beautiful girl who changed his destiny. Quiet and reserved, Callie still fears letting anyone else into her world. But Kayden is certain that Callie has come back into his life for a reason. And the more he tries to be a part of her life, the more he realizes that, this time, it's Callie who needs to be saved...

My Review: I loved this book! These two characters were made for each other, it just took a little time to get there.

Kayden looks perfect on the outside. Good looks, great football player, and overall great person. But under those clothes he's covered in scars and he's dying on the inside. For years he's been beaten and it doesn't seem to be an end in sight, until Callie comes along one night and saves his life.

Callie used to be someone everyone got along with and after something that scarred her for life, she changed. Wore big clothes, chopped of her hair and just changed. Everything thought she was a freak and no one talked to her anymore. She was always alone and never told anyone what happened to her.

What ends up happening is Callie leaves for college early, and a few months later Kayden ends up going to the same school. The run into each other and Kayden doesn't think its  her. She looks like Callie, but this time her hair is longer, she's wearing clothes that fit her and looks beautiful. Once he realized this, he wanted to know her. But Callie still doesn't like/trust people and right now her friend Seth has been the one to be there for her, bring her out of her shell and is the only one who knows her dark secret.

Given some time, Callie and Kayden grow found of each other and soon they are finally together. Things are going wonderfully, they are happy, doing well in school and nothing could go wrong. Well things are going to take a turn. When they a arrive home during a holiday break, things were okay until Kayden started to get hit again. This time Callie was there and Kayden stood up for himself and planned to leave and never come back. The night was going just fine after that and they are just perfect. Soon after, Callie tells Kayden her secret and that leads to more trouble and to an ending I didn't expect.

I loved this book, and already diving into the next to see where these two are right now.
