The Darkest Corners is a psychological thriller about the lies little girls tell, and the deadly truths those lies become.

There are ghosts around every corner in Fayette, Pennsylvania. Tessa left when she was nine and has been trying ever since not to think about it after what happened there that last summer. Memories of things so dark will burn themselves into your mind if you let them.

Callie never left. She moved to another house, so she doesn’t have to walk those same halls, but then Callie always was the stronger one. She can handle staring into the faces of her demons—and if she parties hard enough, maybe one day they’ll disappear for good.

Tessa and Callie have never talked about what they saw that night. After the trial, Callie drifted and Tessa moved, and childhood friends just have a way of losing touch.

But ever since she left, Tessa has had questions. Things have never quite added up. And now she has to go back to Fayette—to Wyatt Stokes, sitting on death row; to Lori Cawley, Callie’s dead cousin; and to the one other person who may be hiding the truth.

Only the closer Tessa gets to the truth, the closer she gets to a killer—and this time, it won’t be so easy to run away.

My Review: I'm picky on mystery thrillers. I'll give them a shot, but very few have earned high ratings. So when I got asked to read this book, I just had to take the chance. Because this one had a really good blurb, and turned out to be way better than expected!

Anywho...girls tell lies. Yup, I'm sure every girl has told some at some point in time. Some are stupid and harmless, and some become deadly truths.

In this case, there are ghosts in Fayette. And the girls are trying to keep the past away from their minds. Tessa couldn't handle it, so she left. She later finds herself coming back for some answers. The truth she seeks may just land her on a path to a killer.

Then you have Callie, who seems to be the stronger one. She didn't leave, but turning to partying was her way of keeping those demons away.

These two never talked about what happened. Once the trial ended, they grew apart. Things just weren't the same. But each needed time. Now Tessa has started to come up with questions. Things that have bothered her since she left.  So what do you do? Naturally you head back and play detective. Lori is dead, Wyatt is on death row, and that just leaves Tessa and Callie out in the real world.

The details were crazy good. So many moments where I was on the edge of my seat, just dying to turn the page and know more. I went from page to page, and before I knew it, I had finished the book. And the ending had many shocking moments. Now this is a mysterythriller done right! I can't wait to read more by this author!
