Wren Noble is dead—she was born that way. Vibrant, unlike other dead things, she craves those rare moments when her twin sister allows her to step inside her body and experience the world of the living.
Lark Noble is alive but often feels she belongs in the muted Shadow Lands—the realm of the dead. Known as the crazy girl who talks to her dead sister, she doesn’t exactly fit in with the living, though a recent suicide attempt and time in a psych ward have proved to her she’s not ready to join her sister in the afterlife.
Now the guy who saved Lark’s life needs her to repay the favor. He and his friends have been marked for death by the malevolent spirit of a vicious and long-dead serial killer, and the twins—who should know better than to mess with the dead—may be their only hope of staying alive.
My Review: I have no idea why I waited so long to read this book. I passed by it in the library so many times. I finally grabbed it and just couldn't put it down.
Wren and Lark are twins. However, Wren was still born. She is a special ghost. She has been by Larks side everyday. Lark can see, hear, and talk to Wren. Her parents though it was cute, but as Lark got older, they worried about her. And after a failed suicide attempt they just didn't want to deal with her anymore. So Lark went to go live with her grandma. Her grandma understands Lark. Knows that Wren is really there. It kinds runs on her side, so she knows how it is.
Wren is protective of Lark. She will do anything to protect her, even if it means taking over her body in situations. Wren even looks different than Lark with her bright red hair a fair skin. She is very beautiful even as a ghost.
Lark is the one who survived. She is the one who gets to live a sorta normal life. Like going to high school. Her second day back and she is already in the principles office. Technically what happened to the guy wasn't her fault. Hes the one who started calling Lark names. It just so happens that Wren stepped in and well.....the guy may be out of school for a few days.
Together they try to live each day as best they can. What they didn't expect was helping her friends deal with a ghost problem. Somehow they got the attention of a ghost who happens to be a serial killer. Lark and Wren seem to be the only ones who can help. Which is true, sine Lark can talk to her sister who is a ghost. Wren can check things out in the ghost world and see what she comes up with on this guy. While Lark does what she can from her end.
It looks like this may be what their future hold as well, helping people with their ghosts problems.
I loved this book. The whole idea, details, story, just everything was perfect to me. I can't wait to dive into the next book!
