“Everyone in the world has a Spark, a light inside that guides them, keeps them alive.”
Starting school is supposed to be a fun and exciting time for any new student. But for Lark, a skilled archer and fledgling mind-reader, it’s a creative form of torture. Locked in rooms and hallways with both friends and enemies, bombarded by the thoughts and feelings of his peers, Lark is a prisoner.
On a quest to master his Spark, Lark’s mentor–his one ally–is anything but helpful. What Lark fails to realize is the value of his rare ability, and just how far some are willing to go to have control of him.
Now including Chapter One of Spirits.
My Review: Everyone has a spark, and starting school is supposed to be a great thing. Well.....I've heard the spark inside of you, in a few different books. But this book does have a fun and unique view on it. But school being fun? Yeah....I'm not so sure on that part.
Anywho....Lark is a very interesting character. Took me a bit to figure out if I could stand him, or just not like him. He's got a cool gift, but its good for torture, so on that note, I figured he does a lot of good with his gift and nothing crazy.
Well, Lark is having a hard time to figure out and control his gift. The person who should help him, isn't much help. So I tried my best to get into this story. There were many parts I liked and some I wasn't so thrilled with.
However, I still enjoyed this book and would give the next book a chance. You never know, the next book could blow you away. The author does a good job and is worth checking out her work. In the end, I did like Lark, and he turned out be better than I thought.
