A heartbroken girl. A fierce warrior. A hero in the making.
Sixteen years ago the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now, the Winterians’ only hope for freedom is the eight survivors who managed to escape, and who have been waiting for the opportunity to steal back Winter’s magic and rebuild the kingdom ever since.
Orphaned as an infant during Winter’s defeat, Meira has lived her whole life as a refugee, raised by the Winterians’ general, Sir. Training to be a warrior—and desperately in love with her best friend, and future king, Mather — she would do anything to help her kingdom rise to power again.
So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter’s magic, Meira decides to go after it herself. Finally, she’s scaling towers, fighting enemy soldiers, and serving her kingdom just as she’s always dreamed she would. But the mission doesn’t go as planned, and Meira soon finds herself thrust into a world of evil magic and dangerous politics – and ultimately comes to realize that her destiny is not, never has been, her own.
My Review: Read the first paragraph. Then bam thats it! I was hooked! If a book can grab me that fast, then I know its soooo worth the read.
So Meira is an amaxing girl. She can do a little fighting, looks adorable, has an amazing attitude, determination, and just an overall good person. She was orphaned at a young age. Sir found her on the road and just picked her up and gave her a home. I love how kind he was for doing that. Though I wasn't too thrilled that she called him sir. I'd rather she just stuck with calling him by his name rather than another title that showed respect. Idk, prob just me, but I didn't like it for this case.
Anywho, Meira has always wanted to join him and the others on missions. Sir and a few others go out on missions to find the missing locket. Meira wants to go and help them, she wants to help their kingdom. I love how much she wanted to help and I so enjoyed it when she came through in such a big way.
When Mather fakes an injury to convince sir to let her join, I loved that guy even more. You'll learn a lot about him when you read the book. But he is the future king an amazing freind to Meria, and an overall great person.
So now that Meria is tagging along, she is ready to prove herself. Meria does in fact prove herself in a big way. That even sir was like in shock that she did it! I would say what she did, but I'm trying so hard not to spoil it.....
So I'll just say I really really really LOVED this book. It was perfect and so worth the read!
