Daughters of the Lake is a contemporary family drama set in Switzerland. Madalena invites her four adult children to celebrate her hotel's fortieth anniversary, unaware of their tensions and secrets. As the day of the celebration approaches, confused emotions take hold, and the occasion goes badly wrong. Set against a backdrop of mountains and lakes, this is a story of love, betrayal and family conflict.
My Review: I so loved this book! Full of everything you could want in a great page turner! Madalena runs a hotel. It's coming up on forty years and wants to throw a party. So she invites everyone to join. Its going to be this great big event full of fun and just a great night.
However, nothing goes as planned. Her kids have tension between them, but she doesn't know whats going on or that there even is anything going on between them. They are all in a lovely setting and instead of enjoying it, there is emotion clouding it all.
Jane does not hold back on this. Details and emotion are on point. You can easily picture everything and feel the emotion. Its one of the best I've read this year and will look forward to anything else Jane writes. She has great talent and is worth checking out!
