ONE GIRL WILL BRING AN EMPIRE TO ITS KNEES...

Before she can become the greatest empress in history, fifteen-year-old Sophie will have to survive her social-climbing mother’s quest to put her on the throne of Russia—at any cost.

Imperial Court holds dangers like nothing Sophie has ever faced before. In the heart of St. Petersburg, surviving means navigating the political, romantic, and religious demands of the bitter Empress Elizabeth and her handsome, but sadistic nephew, Peter. Determined to save her impoverished family—and herself—Sophie vows to do whatever is necessary to thrive in her new surroundings. But an attempt on her life and an unexpected attraction threatens to derail her plans.

Alone in a new and dangerous world, learning who to trust and who to charm may mean the difference between becoming queen and being sent home in shame to marry her lecherous uncle. With traitors and murderers lurking around every corner, her very life hangs in the balance. Betrothed to one man but falling in love with another, Sophie will need to decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice in order to become the empress she is destined to be.

In a battle for the soul of a nation, will love or destiny reign supreme?

My Review: I saw this book and just wanted to read it. No store near me had this book and I finally had to find it online and buy it. It was so worth hunting it down! I just couldn't put the book down and read it in one sitting.

Sophie is a princess. She has the looks and fancy dresses, and carries around a blade. You'll find she is very skilled in unlady like things, but can still act like the perfect princess when she needs to. So rockstar like and I just loved her right from the start. Her mother is another story. I didn't really like her. She cared about her status and getting more money way too much.

So during her stay, Sophie is supposed to win Peters heart and get the crown. However things got a little messy along the way. First there is her mother being the way she is. One of her ladies is in love with Peter. Other girls are arriving that are potential brides. Then you have some other men that steal her heart.

So you can tell right away that the empress favors Sophie. She also gives some lovely presents. Though what she does near the end to Alexander and Sophie, it got me annoyed and I disliked her a bit more.  Then you have Peter, the prince who likes to play games with girls and doesn't really have a heart. He does love his liquor though.

During it all, Sophie gets to know Alexander, Peter's good friend. And things become more than it should have. Which ends differently that I had imagined. But after all that happens, Sophie still manages to secure the crown. What happens after the wedding was just perfect! I love the way Sophie turned things around and really stuck it to Peter!!!

I can't tell you how much I loved this book! Simply amazing and will be adding to my favorites of the year!! I could say so much more about this book, but then I would just be giving it all away! This book is worth the read!
