Someone has kidnapped a nest of helpless baby gargoyles and is using them as pentagram focuses, devouring their magic—and their lives—for a horrific, illegal power boost. Swept into the dangerous underworld of black magic, earth elemental Mika Stillwater must cobble together her limited resources and skills to have a chance at being the hero the baby gargoyles desperately need. If she fails, the city will be at the mercy of the gargoyles’ murderers and their overwhelming destructive magic.

But pitting herself against powerful black-magic villains is proving just as deadly for Mika as for the gargoyles

My Review: This is a short read. Easily get it done in no time, and then be annoyed that there are not more pages.

I liked this book. I haven't read many books with gargoyles, but I really love the way Rebecca went with it. A baby gargoyle is taken and it leads to danger, dark magic, murder, and an awesome character. Why would they use gargoyles as sacrifice? Is there something special about them? Or are they just easier to kidnap? Well it kinda has to do with their magical powers. They do have  some awesome magic, but not all want it for good.

Then in jumps Mika. An awesome chick who is the hope for the gargoyles. Shes an elemental, so that gives her, her own kind of skills. It might seem like she doesn't have a long list of resources, but Mika does her best with what shes got and just wows you.

A fun and easily read while on break or just to kill some time. Either way, you will love this!
