Graham Hope had it all – a wife, two perfect children, a detached house in the suburbs and a huge TV. Until today. He now has an ex-wife, lives in his parents’ spare room and gets the kids and the dog at weekends. He might be lost and lonely, but Graham is not a victim. Six months from today he will be forty-three. He vows to sort this mess out by his birthday. He gives himself six months to get a life. Will Graham play a meaningful role in his boys’ lives? Will his mates take him under their wing? Will he move out of his childhood home? More importantly, will he ever have sex again? For Graham, failure is not an option.
My Review: Graham did have it all and yet he lost it all just as fast. Right now he spends his days being lonely and living back at home. In some ways it should be fun. No wife to listen to, no kids at the house to worry about, not having to answer/explain things to them.
Well, that so isn't the case. He may have some dealings with the wife when it comes to dropping off the kids and dog. But the best thing he can do is be the best person he can be for himself and his kids. So his 6 month plan comes to life. Its a good goal to have and a reachable one.
So what can happen? He can move out, have a good job, life, relationship with his kids and everything is just great. That would be pretty ideal for Graham. But getting that or anything, will take some effort. I think he could do it, Graham had a pretty good attitude through the story, and was willing to put in the effort. The bad and good, you go through it all with him.
This is a story that could easily be something hard/depressing to read, but don't let that title fool you. It is a nice story and you can learn a few things. Even be surprised at what Graham found. He found someone special, didn't plan on it, but he is still very happy about it.
