What's worse than never getting over your first love?
How about watching him fall for someone else...

Hanna Elliot had worn the ring faithfully at first. Some part of her still clung to the hope that all was not lost. As the days turned into weeks, she finally took it off and set it atop her dresser. When weeks gave way to months, the ring finally went back into its box, where it gathered dust until it was moved to Hanna’s unmentionables drawer. For the first few years, she had taken it out on the anniversary of the day she’d received it, allowing herself to wallow in what might have been.

She had been all but stamped out of Derick Wentworth’s mind.
Sure, he thought about her occasionally, especially on cloudless nights when he lay on the bow of the Laconia looking up at the stars. But as time went on, Derick began to feel grateful that it hadn’t worked out, for one thing was certain: if he ever did settle down, it would be with someone who knew her own mind. Someone who went after the thing she wanted without hesitation. Someone who would never allow herself to be persuaded otherwise.

Persuaded, a modern adaptation of Jane Austen's Persuasion.

My Review:  I loved this book! The cover and blurb drew me in and I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but I ended up being surprised and loving it!

So if you have been in love, then you know how your first love is very special. Its fun, amazing, and scary all at the same time. Your first love can last or it can sadly end. For Hannah her first love didn't last forever like she hoped. It has taken her a very long time to let go of the ring and that life.

What can really suck? Watching him fall for someone else. Is being persuaded by others a good enough reason for things to end? Things could have been done differently and worked out, but it just didn't go that way.

See, Hannah is apparently persuaded easily by others. But as you read about her, you get to like her and know about her. She does have some kick to her at times and had her own voice. Hannah is stronger than you may think and I loved reading about her. Though when it came to Derick.....I can't even think about it. I wasn't thrilled about him. He was built well, I just wasn't thrilled with him leaving Hannah and how he would act during the book.

Also, this is a much cleaner romance than what I'm used to reading, and I was very happy with it. Everything was nicely paced and written perfectly, that kept me into the book. I gobbled this story up and wasn't happy to see it end. I want to read more! One of the best romance books I've read this summer and would love for everyone else to try this book!
