Trapped in a cursed sleep, the only experiences Princess Eglantine has are the ones in her dreams. There she meets Prince Henry of Fallund, a neighboring kingdom on the brink of war.
Meanwhile, Prince Henry's brother Duncan discovers a vicious beast imprisoned for murder. Captivated by her, he works to free her from both the prison bars she's locked behind and the ones surrounding her heart and mind. Sleeping Beauty and the Beast reinvents and seamlessly intertwines the classic fairy tales Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast.
My Review: I love Sleeping Beauty and was so excited to read this book! It also combines other fairy tales that I enjoyed reading, and just every part of the book was written perfectly.
Princess Eglantine has dreams while in her deep sleep, that she cant get out of. These dreams are lovely and in them she meets Prince Henry. I liked the twist with the dreams, it turned out really cool, and it would seem as if it wasn't a dream, the details are just so right. The author did a really good job with that.
So what is to happen here? Is the princess to wake up? Well of course, but not with a kiss, but when the beast has been freed. Only then shall she wake, but how will it happen? So you gotta have someone go to the other kingdom and free the beast, sounds so much easier than it really is and there may be a war. No pressure there!
I think this would be a fun book to read either before or after watching the movies. Nice to see how things can be twisted around and still make a great story. This is a really good book for anyone and it reads just like a perfect fairy tale, so you dont have to worry about anything if you let someone young read this book. I'd say its good for teens and up, and even better for those who love Sleeping Beauty and/or Beauty and the Beast.
I really loved every part of the book and because I just really love Sleepy Beauty and Beauty and the Beast, it was just that more of a perfect read for me. I did like this new way she was put to sleep and it wasn't just an ordinary prince to come save her. Remember the prince fighting to get to Beauty to give her that kiss? Well be prepared for a new twist on how the prince meets her. The brothers also get reunited, which I was happy about. I wasn't sure how it would work, but when it happened, it all fell into place and written just right.
As you read this book, you could feel just how much the author enjoyed writing this story because it was just written perfectly. I know I've said that already but, I just really loved this story and hope Melissa can keep up this lovely writing.
