One determined girl.
One resourceful boy.
One miracle machine that could destroy everything…
After an unexplained flash shatters her world, seventeen-year-old Eyelet Elsworth sets out to find the Illuminator, her father’s prized invention. With it, she hopes to cure herself of her debilitating seizures before Professor Smrt—her father’s arch nemesis—discovers her secret and locks her away in an asylum.
Pursued by Smrt, Eyelet locates the Illuminator only to see it whisked away. She follows the thief into the world of the unknown, compelled not only by her quest but by the allure of the stranger—Urlick Babbit—who harbors secrets of his own.
Together, they endure deadly Vapours and criminal-infested woods in pursuit of the same goal, only to discover the miracle machine they hoped would solve their problems may in fact be their biggest problem of all.
When darkness is safer than light…
My Review: First
of all, look at the beautiful cover! It's perfect for this book! Speaking of
the book, I loved it! Eyelet is amazing and I loved the whole idea of the book.
Okay so her dad made this machine. This
machine can cure her of the seizures she deals with. Slight
problem...her dad is dead, and he kind of sold the machine. So uh, Eyelet is in
a pickle right now. First she must find the machine, then she can use it and be
all better. Then another problem happens. Someone else wants the machine for
another reason. Plus when she finally found the machine, it
was whisked away again. This is one long trip for a single machine,
and it never said that the machine was perfect without problems. So what is she
gets it and there is a problem?
So Eyelet is off in Brethren. This is
where is goes to find the Illumination machine. Oh and she just
happens to run into a guy named Urlick. You may have guessed it, but these two
have things in common. During this mission, they fall for each other and have a
really nice romance. Though these names...I'm telling you these books are
getting stranger with names.
Okay, so besides the romance, these two
must hurry to save each other. The machine is needed, and when they get to it,
they may save more than just that.
Do you love it yet?! I hope you all go
out and get a copy! I'd say more, but I think I gave you all enough of a taste.
I really loved this book, and hope there is more to come!
