Dawn Summers is dying. It’s 1853 and as the seventeen year old continues to fade away she has visions of the father she never knew, urging her to fight for her life.
In the small village of Fandova the only medical care is in the form of the mysterious Dr. Moralus who has a known penchant for bloodletting. Thomas, Dawn's fiancĂ©, is warned against inviting his intervention, but feels he has no choice, he pleads with the doctor to save Dawn’s life…whatever it takes.
Whatever it ‘takes’ has some consequences neither of them expected. Now, it’s a hunt to the death, with both Dawn and Thomas determined to win.
My Review: So what do you expect to happen when your dying? Well you either live your life like crazy until its over. OR you can fight to stall alive. Dawn and Thomas want to fight this. Can this mysterious doctor help them? Or will it end up becoming something else?
Well, I love the whole story idea and having to being way way in the past. I like having some of my favorite genre's mixed into a different century. This book actually mixed so well, that I want another book...so you know I already loved the book and I haven't even said much yet!
Now I'm really going to talk about the book...We start with Dawn who is dying and her mother is watching, along with Thomas. Her mother Eileen sounds like she has given up hope, when Thomas hasn't given up yet.
Dawn is so ill, that breathing is so hard for her to do. Thomas won't leave her side and wonders why Dawn has to be going through it all.
Then there is Dr. Moralus who is an odd ball out. He comes into the village to help the people living there. They are glad that a male doctor is there, but they can't help but wonder about him. He claims he is from everywhere and talks about bloodletting. So he just made himself even more of a stranger. Love how people find out one thing of a person and decide to have nothing to do with that person. What else is strange about him? His house. Yep his house doesn't look so perfect, while the mothers of every house keeps their place looking just right. There is something fishy about this guy and I can't wait until you all figure out what he's up to, or if he is just plain ol strange. Care for a hint? He needs to be invited in (:
After some time the doctor visits once more. Then Dawn is somehow getting better. He eyes now shine the way they used to and Thomas is so full of hope. Thomas is so sweet and in love with Dawn, they are just too cute. So while Dawn rests, Dawn shouldn't be let out until the third night. So what does that mean? Has she changed? Or did she just recover like that? Oh I want everyone to read this book!!!! Around that part of the book, you'll be completely sucked in.
So when Dawn can finally get up, Thomas explains everything. Dawn will have the same effects as the doctor after he had fought the sickness. No longer being able to wander in the sunlight, or get much color to her skin. Though Dawn isn't angry, she understands that Thomas did it because he cares and didn't want her to fade away.
When Dawn's abilities start to come around, she takes it in an angry way. She spent all day hearing people around town. Then when she wants to go out, she just screams to let Thomas leave her alone so she can go out.
Dawn is so amazing! I love her, which is pretty much all I can say. I don't know what words to use for her, just that she is one of my favorite's yet for so many many reasons. I hope everyone gets a chance to read this book.
