Evil Shadows is a true story of the extremes of identity theft that can lead to arrest, prosecution and imprisonment of the victim. It shows how the author's identity was stolen and how that theft ultimately led to his financial ruin and closure of his successful business enterprise, all the result of actions of federal agents and prosecutors. After an exhaustive investigation, the author lays bare the whole story of how his identity was stolen and how it was used as cover for commission of other crimes. The story tells of his becoming the primary suspect in a worldwide federal investigation for those crimes and how federal authorities leveled their awesome and destructive powers directly at him in their zeal to make an arrest. It details the destruction of his successful publishing company and of how he narrowly avoided being arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. The story concludes with self-help chapters on the subjects of Prevention, Detection and Recovery from identity theft

My Review:  So this book is the story of identity theft. It goes about how, why, and after the fact. Buy how can you explain it? No one really has the answer as to why this happened to them, it just did.

The worst part of this, is knowing that it happened to the very Author. Rick did have his idenity stolen, so it made the book even more realistic. You never really know who it will happen to, or why. The why part will never be rightfully answered, since people are rude to do it in the first place. The easy part is being a victim, the hardest is proving the truth.

Evil Shadows is about a man trying to regain his life back and to fight for himself. After becoming the main suspect in one of the worst cases ever. Everything was perfect. A home, own job, and a lovely family. Each day went by like any other, until one very dreadful day. When officers swarm into the store to just take everything you have away. Your business is done for. Contracts and clients gone, leaving the victim in a panic. How can this happen? Can it be fixed? Can everything recover and learn to live life like before? Well, you can get your life back. All you need to do is fight. Fight for every damn thing. The author had gone through so much, that I can't believe it happened to such a nice and normal guy.

As I read this book, it made me think of all the possibilities. Also knowing what the author went through is proof of how things work when you are trying to get your life back from this. I'm finding it hard to put the right words into this review. I just can't explain how real this book was. I think you should all get this book and read it for yourself.  Now this is where I would rate the book. Though I'm just going to leave my thoughts with you on this book. Since rating it just wouldn't be right. Should I rate on weather or not I liked or hated that his identity was stole? Or that the writing was good or if the details were great. Having your identity stolen from you is one of the worst things that can happen to any person. I wouldn't want this to happen, but you just can't control the people out there who are just bad...I'm just glad that the Author managed to stay out of jail and fight for his name.
