In the remote mining village of Aystin, Karsen Morgate secretly longs to explore the world outside the town walls; but instead dutifully spends his nights protecting the precious Cloudstone tiles—mined by his father, and engraved with mystical symbols and lore by the reclusive Adept Noxyn. When his half-brother, Petr, commits a gruesome crime, Karsen is forced to flee his home, carrying with him a tile depicting a unique artifact—the Ennae—entrusted to his care by the Adept himself. Alone, ailing, and on the run, Karsen must find help, find his way, and decipher the true meaning of the Ennae. For he soon realizes that he is being pursued by the dark brotherhood of the Shroud, and that he has somehow become an unwilling pawn in an ancient conflict.

The Shroud is stirring.

The world of Tholann is in danger.

And young Karsen Morgate is in the middle of it.

My Review: I got asked to read this book and was interested in seeing where this book could take me. Well it's one heck of a fantasy book. It's not my usual fantasy book, but for a change it was pretty good. Which is a good thing since, I don't like to change my style of books and I'm very picky.

Any how, when you just into this book you will be engulfed in a lovely new world. It's not just one world, but many. You have sky touching population, giant female population, funny population, mysterious population, etc. All these worlds in one book, does work! You may think all these worlds would make the book sound bad, but don't worry, it flows just right. Weird right?  Each scene is written well enough that you can get a picture of it and still add your own ideas to it. There is no boring characters! Yes, its true, I have not found one person boring. So when Karsen leaves his home, he is about to be thrown into things, he never expected. Well the world was never simple, now imagine being thrown into many....not makes the world even more complicated. When you meet Bestah, your gonna love and find find this character to be funny. Gotta love a character that isnt covered in detail. Over detailed characters is just bleh.  This book has tension! I mean a lot of it, so much that you will be oozing it yourself!
