Julie Cross's Vortex is the thrilling second installment of the Tempest series, in which the world hangs in the balance as a lovelorn Jackson must choose who to save.
Jackson Meyer has thrown himself into his role as an agent for Tempest, the shadowy division of the CIA that handles all time-travel-related threats. Despite his heartbreak at losing the love of his life, Jackson has proved himself to be an excellent agent. However, after an accidental run in with Holly—the girl he altered history to save—Jackson is once again reminded of what he's lost. And when Eyewall, an opposing division of the CIA, emerges, Jackson and his fellow agents not only find themselves under attack, but Jackson begins to discover that the world around him has changed and someone knows about his erased relationship with Holly, putting both their lives at risk all over again.

My Review: In Tempest we left off with Jackson joining the CIA,and having to leave Holly behind. Now Jackson is a  CIA agent working with Tempest, to track down some not so cool guys. Some missions are good, while some end in yelling from Cheif Marshall. training isn't a walk in the park either. Soon they learn that the New York mayor is having a charity ball. Jackson and agent Kendrick are sent there for a week to keep an eye on things and attend the ball, just in case. When in New York, Jackson learns a lot of new things. First off his partner has a secret fiance. The mayor shows up randomly and tells him more about whats going on, and then just walks out. Plus his place...isn't very comfortable. Maybe he won't sleep on the floor every night. The following day he and Kendrick are off to house shop. Jackson has to at least make his place look like his cover as a college kid. As they near the end of their shopping, a girl walks by and has Jackson stopped in his tracks. The girl was Holly, HIS Holly. He watches her and notices this other guy with her. He tries to not think about her, or ask for much information. Though he feels like he shouldn't have done that. Jackson wants to know more about Holly. He really does miss her, even if it can't happen right now. Soon they leave and continue on with their supplies. Will Jackson try to find and talk to her? Or will her leave her alone? Jackson and Kendrick must prepare themselves for this week ahead of them, along with how they plan to handle the ball.

As you go on with the book, you will find its different from book one. Its more science, travel, agents, then you read in book one. Though it works and makes this book really good, I find the ending of this book the best part. You might agree if you read it to.
