On the heels of a family tragedy, the last thing Katie Greene wants to do is move halfway across the world. Stuck with her aunt in Shizuoka, Japan, Katie feels lost. Alone. She doesn’t know the language, she can barely hold a pair of chopsticks, and she can’t seem to get the hang of taking her shoes off whenever she enters a building.

Then there’s gorgeous but aloof Tomohiro, star of the school’s kendo team. How did he really get the scar on his arm? Katie isn’t prepared for the answer. But when she sees the things he draws start moving, there’s no denying the truth: Tomo has a connection to the ancient gods of Japan, and being near Katie is causing his abilities to spiral out of control. If the wrong people notice, they'll both be targets.

Katie never wanted to move to Japan—now she may not make it out of the country alive.

My Review: Amanda starts of strong with her debut book. Ink has a new and unique story, that changes the YA world. Paper Gods, Kami, Ink power, all new and super cool. When I found out about this book I was surprised that it was different and that it took place in Japan. Not many books out there are set in Japan. So I gave it a try, learned about paper gods, and some Japanese!

Okay so about the book... Katie's mother has passed and now she is to go live with her Aunt in Japan. She was to go live with her grandparents in Canada, but due to her grampy having cancer, they won't be able to take care of her right now.

So off in Japan, Katie must learn a new language, a new culture, totally different surroundings  and most of all, to have a normal life. During school she realizes that she has the wrong slippers on. She heads to change into her school slippers, when she runs into a horrible breakup going on near her. Once its all over she notices that a sketch book was dropped. When she looked at it the drawing moved! Okay so drawings are supposed to stay on the paper and that's it. Nope, this one moves, like it actually looked at Katie. Before she can do much, the owner of the Sketch book comes and takes it. Though is this guy a jerk! Hopefully he get gets better during the book.

As you get halfway through the book, you will sit there and yell for more. Like the owner o the sketch book ended up being Tomohiro, who is this cool Kami. Now he explains this somewhat vaguely, and you will beg for him to explain more. Don't worry he does, he tells Katie everything he knows and just how she may tie into this. Now does she tie into this because she hols this ink power to, or does it have something to do with the gang ties?

Tomohiro's friend is in this gang, and well if he knew just what Tomohiro really was, he'd try to make him join. So they must keep this all a secret, because really, a Paper God? Who could believe that? Well you'd be surprised at that.

Nearing the end you will find yourself torn on wondering if Katie and Tomo will stay together, or stay apart like people want them to. The Ink wants power, and being together makes the Ink react more when Katie is around. Will she stay away and keep everyone safe, or risk it for each other?

After being taken by a gang and then saved by another, will they realize what the risks are, and just what power they truly hold? Well you must read this book, because I feel like this book will make for great chit chat.
