Nikki Beckett could only watch as her boyfriend, Jack, sacrificed himself to save her, taking her place in the Tunnels of the Everneath for eternity — a debt that should’ve been hers. She’s living a borrowed life, and she doesn’t know what to do with the guilt. And every night Jack appears in her dreams, lost and confused and wasting away.

Desperate for answers, Nikki turns to Cole, the immortal bad boy who wants to make her his queen — and the one person least likely to help. But his heart has been touched by everything about Nikki, and he agrees to assist her in the only way he can: by taking her to the Everneath himself.

Nikki and Cole descend into the Everneath, only to discover that their journey will be more difficult than they’d anticipated — and more deadly. But Nikki vows to stop at nothing to save Jack — even if it means making an incredible sacrifice of her own.

In this enthralling sequel to Everneath, Brodi Ashton tests the bonds of destiny and explores the lengths we’ll go to for the ones we love.

My Review: Nikki is having a dream with Jack. Ever since Jack took her place they visit each other in Nikki's dreams. Right now that's the only way they see each other. To get to Jack Nikki will need Cole, who is hard to track right now. He isn't talking to her since the day she told him to leave her alone, plus he's off touring with his band. She has tried to track where they would go next, but every time she drives off, she would always end up in the wrong place. She keeps track even though she won't do anymore trips, because her dad had enough of her disappearing, and he can't keep going through that. So she wait and hops that Cole will come back, because without him, she can never get back to the Everneath. The day of graduation has come, not for Niki but for Jack even though he isn't around he still gets a diploma that his mom receives for him. Jack's mom has a slight scene with Nikki before storming off. As she heads for her car she runs into a familiar face. Cole, yes Cole is back and things have just turned. With Cole back Nikki will try even harder to reach Jack, she did get some hair and took a trip to the everneath, but Cole got her out of there. It wasn't the best idea, Nikki could have died if Cole hadn't saved her and explained some more about the Everneath. The following day she goes to see Mrs. Jenkins, who knows alot about the Everneath. She explains that to enter and hide your energy you need an escort. Yup looks like Cole knew how to hide her energy, but wouldn't say. At least he doesn't know that she has Mrs. Jenkins. So what does she do? Gets dressed and ready to reveal to Cole what she knows and get him to escort her. I'm telling you Cole is a character that drives me nuts, yet he is a Really good character. I don't like how he keeps saying Jack is gone and don't try to save him, but really he is just selfish. If Nikki doesn't wanna be with him, then that should be it, but damn some guys can't get the point. As the plan came into action, things were going ok, except that Cole hadn't shown up yet. Although as she went to take the hair Cole and Max both show up. Once they realize it wasn't Cole's hair, Cole decided to just give in. Later Nikki goes to Cole's place where they come up with a plan to save Jack and do it without so many issues. As we know, a good story can't be really good unless alot of issues come up, which they do. They arrive at the everneath and Nikki now must think of a time with her and Jack to create her tether that will lead them to Jack. Once they get the tether and have it under control they begin by heading in the direction it points to. After some time they head into this market like place to visit a person who owes Cole a favor, plus he know how to get into the tunnels. Oh and the tunnel they need to be to get Jack, is the one that most dangerous. You'll know why once you read that part. Any who when they get there they must be more careful because there are signs of Nikki, the queen is looking for her. Now they must cover her more closely. As they reach the place that Asher (Cole's friend) lives, they get inside and explain everything and come up with what to do next. When time comes, they kick it into gear to get into the labyrinth. By this time Nikki has been gone for a night, which means she missed a dream with Jack. Nikki will have to be kicked up to the surface to dream and then they will come for her the next day. She is kicked back once she falls into the lake of blood and guilt, she must be kicked up in order to keep from drowning. When she does get kicked up she heads to see Will, where she explains everything and spends the night there. The following morning she goes to walk home, but her dad finds her and pulls over. He found her by GPS on her phone (that is not cool) When he steps out of the car Nikki explains about knowing where Jack is and she is the only one who can save him. Before she does anything she asks for the water her dad hands her one and next thing she knows, she is in Dr Hill's office. Yup she was drugged, now before Dr Hill gets anything out of Nikki, she notices a hand on the floor and makes a dash for the bathroom, where she finds the hand that belongs to Cole. She takes it and head back into the Everneath continuing her quest for Jack. As they make their way around the Everneath they run into shades, sirens, fiery walls, lakes, oh and they run into the queen. The queen is interesting because she is someone who is that to be gone, but I'll leave that hidden. Now as for saving Jack, well I can't say much but I will say it is amazing, heart felt, emotional that made the ending one of the best endings I've read. Oh the very end of the book Cole reveals something to Nikki, all I will say is Nikki is ready to take down the Everneath and that I NEED THE NEXT BOOK (:
