EVERY GIRL WHO HAS TAKEN THE TEST HAS DIED.

NOW IT'S KATE'S TURN.

It's always been just Kate and her mom--and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear that her mother won't live past the fall.

Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld--and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.

Kate is sure he's crazy--until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she suceeds, she'll become Henry's future bride and a goddess.

IF SHE FAILS...

My Review: Kate is driving away, away from her home and into her mothers hometown. Kate's mother is dying and they decided to go someplace where her mom can go peacefully. However Kate can't stand the thought of it, of losing her mom and of moving to a new place. So on her first day of school, Kate is late. Her mom got sick that morning, and didn't trust the new nurse yet. So anyway Kate arrives and runs into a kid named James. He ends up being very friendly to Kate, apparently he and everyone else already knew of her arrival. James on the other hand ends up sitting at lunch with her, follows her around a bit, and follows her to her car after school. Hm James seems slightly stalkerish rather than overly friendly. Other than James, Kate meets two other people who also became quick friends with her. Dylan and Ava. Dylan is this cute guy who stares at Kate all day, and Ava ends up inviting Kate to a bonfire. Great, so Kate made some friends and plans with them. Though that was not what she wanted. All she wanted was to get through this year being invisible. The night of the party is one night Kate will not forget. Ava brings Kate to the area near the Eden manor. Instead of getting ready to know people, Ava tricked Kate. Told her to stop messing with her BF and then she jumped into the water. Instead of jumping back out she doesn't. Ava hit her head and is dead. Kate pulls her out of the water, and suddenly this guy comes out of nowhere. He says that he can Help Ava but it'll come with a price. Full of worry Kate agrees to anything if he can save her. So he does and they head back home for the night, while Kate lies awake wondering what just happened. After two weeks have passed, the same guy shows up. His name is Henry and tells Kate its time to leave with him. Not yet ready, Kate says no then goes to bed. The next day she finds that Ava is dead. Some time later after things happened, Kate is at the manor. He she will learn things that many people believe to be myths. Henry tells her that he rules the underworld, everyone at the manor isn't exactly alive anymore. He explains to her why she is there and what to expect if she chose to stay. Plus Henry makes a deal with Kate, as long as she remains at the manor, she will get more time with her mom. So Kate agrees to this along with taking the tests. So if she passes she will be his wife, and also rule. If she was to lose she would be returned to the outside world with no memory of what happened. Kate goes through so much. She learns and studies about these myths, she has to wear dresses now, she ends up passing a test without knowing it. She finds Ava and they hang out together. Kate finds out things about Henry and James. Hey she even gets a cute puppy! Life as Kate knows it won't ever be normal now and she just happens to have an amazing journey ahead of her. This book is amazing!!! It has been a while since I read anything with Greek mythology and Aimee took it and made an amazing book that I couldn't out down.
