My Review: American Singer is the middle child of 5 and lives as a caste 5. Her family is artists and make a living by selling their artwork or by singing/playing for people. Aspen, America's secret love of two years. Aspen is a caste 6 one below America, which means the fight for food is even stronger, especially since Aspen is now the head provider of his family. The two of them meet in secret in America's tree house every few days at midnight. Breaking curfew is against Illéa's laws. The book starts of a tad slow until the letter arrives. A letter arrives for any girl 16 to 21 who would like to enter the selection and win the opportunity to become Prince Maxon's wife. American refuses at first but at the insistence of Aspen and America's mother she agree's and fills out the letter. Few days later Aspen and America meet again, but this time its not happy. Aspen is angry that America has given him so much food and for other reasons he breaks up with her. One week later the selection announcements come in and America has been chosen. Later all 35 girls are at the palace, where America begins rethinking her look on the selection toward the end. I could go on and on about this book but I simply cant give anymore away. You all should just read this book. For me it was absolutely one of the best books I have read in a while!
