Weekly Spotlight - Revenants

“I spent the rest of the day in someone else's story. The rare moments that I put the book down, my own pain returned in burning stabs.”
 Amy Plum, Die for Me
Die For Me
In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

Until I Die
Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love.

As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy.

In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a captivating paranormal mythology with immortal revenants and a lush Paris setting. Until I Die is poised to thrill readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them desperate for the third and final novel in the series.

If I Should Die
I will not lose another person I love. I will not let history repeat itself.

Vincent waited lifetimes to find me, but in an instant our future together was shattered. He was betrayed by someone we both called a friend, and I lost him. Now our enemy is determined to rule over France’s immortals, and willing to wage a war to get what they want.

It shouldn’t be possible, none of it should be, but this is my reality. I know Vincent is somewhere out there, I know he’s not completely gone, and I will do anything to save him.

After what we’ve already fought to achieve, a life without Vincent is unimaginable. He once swore to avoid dying—to go against his nature and forsake sacrificing himself for others—so that we could be together. How can I not risk everything to bring my love back to me?

My Review: OMG OMG OMG OMG!!! This book is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION in every single possible way!

Okay when book one, Die For Me was released, I saw it everywhere. I told myself I would read it when I could. However, being on book sites I found many readers raving about it and I decided to finally read it. With that, I have been hooked lined and sinker for this series.

I love French, which attracted the book to me even more. It is written so beautifully that this series is a true work of art.

So last book we left off with Vincent being thrown from a window, pretty much dead. With Violette  stealing his body. Now Kate is alone thinking about all that has happened, when suddenly Vincent shows up. Excite that Vincent is violant and talking to her, Kate has some hope. Though Vincent is quick to tell her Violette's plan to get rid of his body and bind him to her. They continue to talk until his voice is gone...Quickly after, Kate runs to la maison. There she explained what happened. Once things are discussed, Kate goes home. There she and her sister explain everything to Mamie. First it was hard, but soon she came around to believing. Especially the next day when the girls went poof and she was at the house talking to the undead! Again there is talking about everything. What they are, how they only want to protect the girls and ensure everything is under control. Now knowing Kate she can't stay home, so she will be at la masion once again trying her best to help Vincent. Even though they can't be together, Kate will do her best to remove Vincent from Violette and any control she may have on him. Some chapters in we get some big news! The champion may not be who we have though it to be. Plus there may just be a way to get Vincent back! I mean the real flesh and bone Vincent, whooot! I won't say more, cause I will really give to much away. (If I haven't already! oops) Once Kate's family comes to terms with everything, they try their best to help. After hours of looking Kate may have found something. She and Papy head over to la maison and reveal the news. After one call they got new hope, and head off to New York. Being back there is hard for Kate, though she must put that aside now to look for answers. Soon they achieve all the answers needed in an attempt to bring Vincent back. Does it work? Well read the book and you will know (: Now before heading back to Paris they receive news of a war brewing in Paris. The numa have started to head for Paris, Vilolette is no longer waiting. Another twist is one of the revenant won't go back to Paris with them!  Once back someone will reveal some news, which will lead others to leave and some to come. They must all prepare to fight in the largest battle yet to come. Before much is done, Mamie is kidnapped by Violette. Kate and the other revenants must hurry there. Once they arrive at the hotel a new fight happens with Violette. A new person dies, Mamie is safe, and best of all a new revenant is made and the champion revealed. This new revenant is someone who many didn't know would turn out a revenant, let alone the champion. Some of you may figure it out as the book goes on, and some will be shocked. Now how can I go on without revealing all the juicy details! I'm dying to tell you all how perfect it is, though it's tough without revealing a lot. Okay so this book has one of the best endings ever! The cutes and sweetest ending, after a long and hard battle. The revenants are victorious, though not without the loss of our favorite people. We leave this book with new hope, new leaders, new missions, and a much much greater love for these characters. I hate to see this series end, it really is one of the best I have ever read.

My Review: This book is better than the first! Amy plum's story  grabs me in so deep I can't stop reading until the book is over.  The story starts off strong with a fight scene. Kate is learning how to fight in case a numa attack happens.  Through out this book the love Vincent has for Kate is so much stronger. He is always saying to Kate how much she means to him that he will continue to keep his promise not to die for her.  This may be a good thing but at what cost? Vincent is trying something that is supposed to help them but he just looks plain horrible. While Vincent does his thing Kate is off trying to figure out some ways on her own and then learns about a "healer".  I just love Vincent's willingness to do anything for Kate. Near the end Kate reveals to Vincent what she has tried to do and he isn't too thrilled about it, and doesn't want Kate going back. But Kate won't let him get away with it. She has Vincent tell her just what he has been doing.  He explains that he has taken a "dark way" to  keep himself from dying until Kate is gone. This comes at risk though, Vincent has to kill numa, by doing so their energy goes to him, giving the urge to resist dying. The only problem is that is the numa find out they may just kill him. He has to be extra careful because of the numa attacks that has been going on. Things are getting crazy as the book comes to a close. After returning home to Paris, Kate was told  that the numa have gone to the "healers" home. Now with the healer in hiding Kate is worried. Things are now really bad. The numa are looking for the champion, and they want him gone. This book is so amazing, I didn't want it to end.

My Review: This book was AMAZING! For the longest time I wanted to read this book, but could never decide if it was worth buying. Eventually I gave in and bought the book. I'm glad I did! This book grabbed me quickly and I couldn't stop until I finished. I love the idea of Revenants, it's something different which I'm always looking for. Kate and Vincent are a perfect couple. I hope the next book can suck me in just as the first one did!!
