Beware your heart and soul…
Evan broke Cassie’s heart two months ago, and she still doesn’t know why. She throws herself into family, friends and her new job at the sheriff’s department, but nothing helps. The only thing that finally allows her heal and move on is the love of a new man, mind mage Matthew Blair. Cassie finds him... irresistible
Matthew may also be the only one who can help keep the nonmagical residents of Eagle Rock from going crazy over the murder of a beloved pastor’s wife. It looks like a sorcerer is to blame, but while Cassie tries to figure out who, others take matters into their own hands. With tensions running so hot, a single spark might set Eagle Rock ablaze.
My Review: I'm so excited to be back with another Cassie Scott book! I love these books and they just keep getting better.
So what happens when a guy you like just breaks your heart? You can get revenge, but would Cassie really do that? Maybe, but instead she jumps into her life of work, friends and family and hope that all helps her somehow. It is very hard to get over a broken heart, but it looks like Cassie is moving on sooner than she thought. A new man appears and he is just amazing and catches Cassie's eye pretty quick.
So lets hope this guy is better. Yes I like Evan, but he caused a lot of problems. Mostly with the way he doesnt share things and would have this attitude about him. Otherwise he was pretty decent and could have made it long term with Cassie. But men can be cruel and decide to just break a heart.
So when Matt came in, I thought he would be good for Cassie, but he started off on a bad note with me. When that happens, I usually dont like that character for the rest of the book, unless Matt can prove himself otherwise, I wont like him. Don't even get me started on the way she was acting around Matt. Ugh I wanted to just scream and hope she heard me!
So Cassie may not be high in the magic department, but she always comes through and proves just how amazing she is. I love how she handled all these people going on a hunt. The hate and trying to get people burned at a stake. Like going back in time and seeing the level of hate go wild. I never thought I'd see this in these books, but Christine always does a bang up job with these books.
So I realllllly loved this book! Each book is just better and better and I can't wait to see what Christine has in store next!
