Summer, boys, and friendships gone sour. This new series has everything that perfect beach reads are made of!

Gemma just got dumped and is devastated. She finds herself back in the Hamptons for the summer—which puts her at risk of bumping into Hallie, her former best friend that she wronged five years earlier. Do people hold grudges that long?

When a small case of mistaken identity causes everyone, including Hallie and her dreamy brother Josh, to think she’s someone else, Gemma decides to go along with it.

Gemma's plan is working (she's finding it hard to resist Josh), but she's finding herself in embarrassing situations (how could a bathing suit fall apart like that!?). Is it coincidence or is someone trying to expose her true identity? And how will Josh react if he finds out who she is?

Katie Finn hits all the right notes in this perfect beginning to a new summer series: A Broken Hearts & Revenge novel

My Review:
I was looking for a summer read and this was a good summer book to start off with. Its relateable, which is a good thing to have in a book and it had a lot of truths, almost like the author went through the exact things in her life.

Gem has a good life. Family, friends, and a killer boyfriend. Now its summer vacation and its time to visit target and get supplies for her trip. Sadly, this trip with her boyfriend is not going to happen. In the middle of shopping, he dumps her and suddenly Gem is at home with a broken heart. She spends her days baking and crying and not seeing much of the world for a while.

All these things that were happening, and I was just pulled into this story. Things I knew about and things I just wanted to tell Gem. Trying to get her up and going is hard at first, but her friend comes along and takes her out. Gem gets a new look and goes out for pizza, when suddenly she notices that her ex boyfriend is there. First off all, she still believes he would come back, and as they start talking, it seemed like it would go that way, but it didnt. He mentions getting her a refund from the trip, and she notices that there is another girl in his car. Yup, Gem just got super broken and now she really doesnt want to leave her bed.

So whats to come form all this? Gem's mom is going on a trip and so Gem will go to the Hamptons and visit her dad there. Now her summer is about to look different and turn out in a direction that she didnt see coming.

That half of the book, was much better and enjoyable to read. Only because the first half was about the breakup and all the crap that comes with that, so it wasnt all happy and fun, but it was good to know Gem and get to see how she changes in the other half of the book.  Seeing everything she goes through and does, its like getting to see Gem shine and not dwell on all the sad things. Plus I like whats going on in the Hamptons.
