When did you realize that you wanted to become a writer?
A number of years ago I read a novel by Gerald
DiPego “With a Vengeance” and thought it would make for an excellent film. I decided to write the script before checking
to see if it was even possible for me to be considered. I think I wanted to see if I had the tenacity
to complete it and I did. Following my
completion, I wrote a letter to the author care of his agent with my critique
on why I felt the book had so much merit as a film. I received a very kind note from the author
who himself is also a screen writer letting me know that he had completed the
script and was in the process of shopping it but encouraged me to continue
writing.
Is being an Author all you dreamed of, or did it just happen?
The best and worst thing about it?
Being an author just happened. I was sitting in my apartment in Manhattan
one night and it was though the end of “The Lightbearers” was being piped into
my brain, two weeks later the middle came and couple weeks later the beginning
came. I began to do my research and thus
“The Lightbearers” was born. The best
part is the satisfaction of having completed a novel. The worst part is trying to get if off the
ground. The publishing world is very
different today and with the ease of self publishing, the field has become very
crowded.
What was the very first thing you ever wrote?
As I mentioned above it was a screenplay based
on a novel.
What made you create (your book)? How did it come to you? I began my research in the NY Public Library
after the seed of “The Lightbearers” was planted. I knew it was going to involve ancient Egypt
so I started out in the Egyptian section of the library. That section was completed deserted and I
walked up and down the aisles not sure what I was looking for when a book fell
off one of the shelves and landed at my feet.
I picked it up and it turned out to be a biography of Akhenaten about
whom I knew nothing. I started to read
the book and became fascinated with his life and that of his wife
Nefertiti. So I created a fantasy about
them.
Who is your literary hero?
I have a few – Emily Bronte, Alice Walker, Dan
Brown, John Grisham, and Wally Lamb, there are more, but I can’t think of them
at the moment.
How much of your characters are based on your traits or
someone you know personally?
I like to think a little bit of me is in there.
Describe your main character in six words. They’re
guardians of the human race.
Describe the world you’ve created in six words.
A world where anything is possible with our
minds.
What scene was your favorite to write?
I think the first scene because it starts out
very mystical and sets the stage for the rest of the book.
What scene was the hardest for you to write?
I can’t really say they all had their
challenges.
What are you working on now?
The sequel to The Lightbearers

Accomplishments? Improvements?
My goal is to write a trilogy of the story line. I am very proud my having accomplished the
first one. Hopefully my writing will
continue to improve with each subsequent book.

What's your favorite thing to do when you're not writing?
I’m doing a lot of research for the sequel and
love discovering ancient history from a different perspective that involves visitations
from more advanced civilizations.
