Being the only human in a world of merfolk... isn't easy. Florence Waverley chose to stay in Niemela, but things have gone awry. Secrets have risen and the prince she cares about has pulled away. All the while, dark dreams warn her of a tragedy that only she can stop. But in order to save the merman she loves, Florence will have to enter the Life Path tournament: a brutal test of fear and madness.

The tournament is a rite of passage--a maze where young mermaids and mermen battle to find their purpose. It is also a place where Florence will face grave danger: mermaids with evil magic, tunnels filled with sea fire, and guardians who wish to use her as a pawn in their secret plans. But will Florence be strong enough to survive the tournament... or will she perish inside it?

Everything hangs in the balance: her life, her world, and her love.

My Review: Back with the next book! You know how I liked the first one?  Well uh this one was even better. I love when each book in  the series is better than the last. Really makes you want to keep reading the books.

Florence has decided to stay in the mer world. Things weren't so bad at first. She is the only human, but not everyone had a problem with that. She fits into this world, and has a prince. Then some time has gone by and things have started to fall apart. People aren't happy about her being a human and Rolan is being distant. So now Florence needs to figure all this out.

So it turns out that Rolan was worried for her. You see, Florence decided to enter this tournament, and well its a very tough one. Florence isn't full mer and who knows how she will do. Either come out on top or she can fail badly.  But Rolan has no control over it, and just has to stay on the sideline. But as you read it, you really are on Florence's side. If she won, she would be proving so much to these people and even make herself feel like she really belongs here.

So what I really enjoyed was the writing, the details and how easily you can picture everything. The details just got better and I loved coming back to Florence's world. Its always a huge plus when the details get even better than the last book. Makes you really want to come back for the next books!
