When did you realize that you wanted to become
a writer?
Probably 5 minutes
after finishing my first story. Sounds strange, right? The truth is, I hated
writing when I was in high school. I used to write poems, but that was it. And then, years later, when I was writing my
master’s thesis on the usage of dynamic PLA formalism in mobile computing
systems (boring right?), I couldn’t help myself – I opened a blank page and…
the rest is history.
Is being an Author all you dreamed of, or did
it just happen? The best and worst thing about it?
I think it was what I
dreamed of, I just didn’t know it then. It took me time to realize what I
really want from life. The best part about it is that I can step into a fantasy
world, talk to my characters without everyone thinking that I’m nuts. LOL The
worst – it’s hard to work at home when there are two little munchkins running
around.
What was the very first thing you ever wrote?
Does a word MAMA
count? But if you’re asking about something literary, the answer is poems.
What made you create (your book)? How did it come to you?
I’ve always been very
passionate when it comes to certain events in history. And witch-hunts is one
such thing. I tried to imagine what would happen if there were real witches.
That was when Amira came to me. And I couldn’t not tell her story.
Who is your literary hero?
I don’t think I have
one.
How much of your characters are based on your
traits or someone you know personally?
I’ve never thought
about it, but now that do, I realize that even if my characters started out
with pieces of me or people I know, they ended up being their own persons.
Describe your main character in six words.
Amira: powerful, stubborn, fearless, impulsive, caring, yearning
for freedom.
Raven: haunted, intelligent, brave, obsessed, closed, loyal.
Describe the world you’ve created in six words.
Dangerous, magical,
challenging, torn-apart.
What scene was your favorite to write?
Where Amira uses her wiles
on Raven because she’s angry and has a point to make. I had so much fun writing
it. Even when the stubborn man refused to cooperate with me.
What scene was the hardest for you to write?
There wasn’t a
specific scene that was hardest to write, but tying all the loose ends.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on my
second book. I have the story in my head, all I have to do is write it down.
Goals? Accomplishments? Improvements?
To publish my second
book by the end of the summer.
Are there any authors or books you recommend?
There are so many I
love! To name a few: Nalini Singh, Larissa Ione, Kresley Cole, Patricia Briggs.
My list goes on and on.
What's your favorite thing to do when you're
not writing?
Spending time with my
husband and kids!
